Happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] doubleplus.

Got email from my mother telling me somebody was coming to look at the roof. As I finished sending a reply asking what time, the doorbell rang.

Yesterday somebody from the city's health department rang my bell looking for someone I've only ever heard of because I sometimes get her mail. Turns out not only was the address they wanted over on East Lombard instead of West (the address listed just said "Lombard"), outside of the particular worker's turf, a phone call revealed that the mother and baby the health worker was looking for have since moved to New York. So I told her the story of the time four police cars showed up here and started pounding on doors trying to find the person who had called 911, only to find out that the emergency was over on East Lombard.

Among the other things I've gotten behind on due to focussing on work-stuff, I haven't printed my DayRunner pages for October yet. So I overlooked the gig last night until, uh, yesterday morning. And thus didn't manage to arrange transportation to it in time. :-( I really hope Jim brought his guitar. This is something I have the potential to get really depressed about if I think about it too much. (I'm already trying to line up wheels for the weekend of the 11th/12th, when I have three gigs.)

I am not hitting that balance point between making use of my "up" time and working too hard so that I need that much more "down" time to recover from it.

Perrine remains impossibly cute. She wants to play more than I have energy/time for, but she did bring one of her toys back to me to throw a few times while I was in bed, so I could play without getting up. She makes it pretty obvious that she's happier if I go to bed when she wants to sleep, too. Not in a cuddly-demonstrative way, but just where/when she decides to sleep, and how annoyed she acts up until I finally go to bed so she can curl up just out of reach and sleep.

A mailing list I'm on has started an off-topic thread about sex/gender. I should probably edit the long post I wrote earlier and put it here. Maybe later today.

The house is now cool enough to leave the container of dark chocolate on the kitchen table instead of in the fridge. But not cool enough to be thinking about burning any heating oil for a while yet. This particular afternoon is warm enough that I might even open a couple of windows. But I did finally turn off the fan in the bedroom and the one at my desk.

I actually had the energy (and thought of it before I was too hungry to have the patience) to make French toast this morning. That was pleasant. I got to hear Julie Andrews being interviewed on NPR as I made my breakfast, 'cause I never got around to tuning in either of the "alternative" radio stations I usually listen to in the kitchen after [livejournal.com profile] anniemal's last visit.

Okay, back to the fugly HTML. (Oh, BTW: the HTML spaghetti I complained about yesterday isn't Javascript (mostly), nor ASP, PHP, etc.; it's that bad just with table code in HTML, alone. I do not want to think about what whoever wrote it would've done with scripts!)

Yes, we do. What does your calendar look like for the next couple months? BTW, the address I have for you in my .mailrc looks out of date.
