Misguided is my, personal wordchoice.

Observation: The people who *are* allowed to get married don't always respect it. So, what's the big deal?

Rabble Rousing Suggestion: We abolish marriage as a legal institution. Power of attorney should deal with most of the legal benefits you receive from marriage, and the parts that it doesn't, there are other legal means of filling those gaps. The reality of the relationship would be the only structure existing.

"Misguided" also works--I was using "sad" partly in its UK slang sense (which if I had a good American word for, I'd have used that).

That particular comment was just tossed off--feel free to improve on it, file off the serial numbers, and use it as your own.

I think that it was a lovely quote :-)

I'm also uber-cranky about this whole "protect marriage week" because it has stepped up my "Christian Apologist" mode and my "American Apologist" modes. I'm saddened and embarassed by my co-religionists and my countrymen all in one fell swoop! (yay)

I'm incredibly angry about the fear and hate that this week symbolizes. All in the name of the God that I love so much.
