I just got email from my mother saying that one of my uncles was found dead in his home this morning. The uncle who was most supportive of my expressing my gender-identity (even more so than either of my parents). Like most of my extended family, I didn't see or speak to him anywhere near often enough.
I had a lot of other things in mind to write about later today. I might decide to use those to distract myself from thinking about my uncle, or I might decide I'm too distracted to write those other things.

It seems like we never get a chance to talk to people enough, doesn't it?

Maybe you should remember him in song.

Think of him if you need to. Talk to other relatives if you need to. Say a prayer if you need to. Distract yourself if you need to.
It's always tough when people you love die - especially when you don't get a chance to prepare, to make sure nothing important's been left unsaid, to say goodbye.
