"Increasing numbers of Americans will abandon traditional American news media. A poll will be taken revealing that the most trusted news source in the US is the BBC. American media, finding that the remaining audience for their news is increasingly old and republican, will aim their news shows at that audience, further alienating themselves from other demographics." -- one of several predictions from [livejournal.com profile] badmagic

It's the paragraph above that which scares the heck out of me. The one about Dean losing by a razor thin margin. [livejournal.com profile] blueeowyn's article re the voting machines and the stated political bias of the guy who owns the program makes me shudder.

Didn't see previous pargraph. Have had enough frights for one day. NPR is my staple, though I ha'e me doubts. Didn't know that the BBC wasn't the mainstay of sanity. The CBC does a fine job, too. Then there's my pal in Berlin.

I was struck how many people during the war would give more credence to BBC news than any american source. The three news sources than seemed to be mentioned most often were the Beeb, NPR, and Fox. Fox and NPR were known to have political biases. (Fox claimed otherwise, and fooled no one, not even their supporters.) The BBC was the only station thought to be neutral.
