I got woken up this morning by the Perrine, who was complaining about being lost somewhere inside the box spring of my bed, which is directly on the floor, not on a bedframe. (She wasn't actually stuck, but she did sound distressed. I found the hole she must have entered through and wiggled my fingers in it, and she came out.) It was actually her clawing the bed that first woke me, and the fact that I couldn't tell where the sound was coming from when I tried to get her to stop. Once I was awake I hard the jingling of her tags from a "that can't be right" direction, and a little while later she started crying.

(Unsurprisingly, she doesn't seem traumatized by her adventure, but she did ask for extra petting.)

I'm sorry, but that's so incredibly cute. :)

Not as cute as a few hours later, when she was staring out the window and chattering at a bird, and got struck by a yawn mid-chatter. Right funny-looking, that was.

When I was 6 or so, Katy got her leg caught in something under my bed, freaked, and bit the daylights out of me when I tried to free her. And I was the one she brought her 'presents' to. It's an iffy thing to deal with a frightened cat without a glove. On the other hand, this is Perrine, and you're not 6.

Give the sweetheart an extra cuddle from me.

Reminds me of how I got one of my cats many years ago. My parents bought a second hand sofa for the family room, the people they bought it from had a litter of kittens about 6 weeks old. When we got the sofa home (in the back of a pick-up truck) and put it in the family room, out pops this little grey tigery nose and whiskers all covered in dust. We called the people we got the sofa from, and then decided we had fallen in love with him and to keep him, we named him Dusty. That was 1978, he died in his sleep in 1991.

Nito showed no ill effects from being locked in my car for more than 24 hours, acted just the same as he would if he'd just walked in a moment before.

Cats can be silly critters.
