redbird: closeup of me drinking tea, in a friend's kitchen (Default)

My cat hates camera flashes. And she learned to associate the sound of setting the camera up (there are particular clicks mine makes when I turn it on), so the only way I was able to take her picture, even without a flash, was to open the camera in a different room. (She's now deaf enough that this isn't a problem.)

Ah! Yes, I'd heard about that before. Had you posted that in the past, or am I remembering a second cat that I'd forgotten about when I wrote that cats don't seem to mind flashes?)

My personal observation remains that most cats don't seem to care, but now I'm thinking that my sample size might be too small. Anybody else want to weigh in with observations?

my cats know the sound of the flash powering up and will leave the room when i turn on the camera.

But is it the whine of the flash that is annoying, or the light that will eventually follow the whine?

The light.

My cats know to close their eyes. I have to go up to ISO 400 or 800 to get open-eye kitties most of the time.
