My street is chock-full of fire equipment.

I heard the sirens, heard a lot of sirens, went to the back window to see how far south of my house the fire was, didn't see anything, looked out the front window and saw a house near the other end of my block, across the street, with a bunch of ladders propped up in front and a lot of smoke coming out the top, and lots and lots and lots of red and white flashy lights in the street.

I'm pretty sure it's one of the inhabited ones. :-(

Crowd gathered pretty quickly on the sidewalk. Not sure I'll get that much better a view from there (despite a tree partially blocking my view of the front of the house, I've got elevation and a not too bad angle from my third-floor window), so I'll stay put for now.

But I'm certainly not taking the van any place for a while.
