In 1999 I was "interviewed" for 40 minutes by airport security personnel in Israel for having in my hand luggage 1) an Israeli road atlas, and 2) Tel-Aviv city map.
Both items were purchased in normal fashion in a bookstore at a mall. Their presence with a foreigner, however, was apparently suspicious.
