- Far more about clowns than I ever thought I wanted to know -- not that it's not more than I want to know, but it's more than I ever knew there was to know. Now I want to know more.
- "NEVER make someone who just had major CHEST surgery LAUGH!"
- Lord of the Rings portrayed as a role-playing campaign ("It's the last game before summer break. Boromir's player lives out of state and will be gone for the summer; the rest are taking classes and no more than three can make a game on the same night. The GM mulls the situation over for a bit, then pulls Boromir's player aside. 'Hey, remember that d20 roll a few weeks ago? How'd you like to go out memorably?'")

Why Superman doesn't need a mask (thanks to
theferrett
for pointing it out). Some police officers did an experiment... -
Baby dragon photograph (thanks to
thespian for this
one).
- Gondor Accepted into United Nations: "Although it claims a history thousands of years old, this marks the first time it has been officially recognized as a sovereign nation." And, "They really want a more effective peacekeeping force [...] Gondor may be small, but one thing it does have is a crack military. Their equipment may not be as advanced as the Americans, but there's no denying they get the job done."
- Flowers that detect land mines: "Reuters reports that the Danish company Aresa Biodetection has developed genetically-modified flowers which change color when their roots come in contact with Nitrogen Dioxide in the soil. Explosives used in mines produce NO2 as the chemicals gradually decay."
- A bunch of American sheet music from 1780 to 1922, scanned and
made available on the web: the
Lester S. Levy
Collection. (The collection extends to 1960, but only the
tunes whose copyrights have expired are online.) Thanks to
misia for
pointing it out. - A dramatic seasonal photo ... it's going to take forever to scrape those windshields.
- And finally, thanks to Fred, a belly-dancing robot: "The strange invention has also provided some lessons for biologists, revealing that the CPG of a fish can drive human-like movements."

(but since when is a Rabbit convertible a "luxury car"?)

Docu-drama. I like that choice of words.

What I want to know is who gets to try to plant those mine-detecting flowers in places full enough of land mines to need them. They'd have to be able to sprout from mere seed-scatter methods, and one would need a sort of seed-scattering gun, and someone to check the road, so it would be possible to stand someplace known to be safe, and sow the seeds somewhere unknown? Or from a helicopter? Do they just get sown everywhere there_might_be a war? How will they affect the local balance of flora? I hate articles that give more questions than answers. Oh well.
And Interrobang has me reconsidering the contest.

Speaking of which....I'd just like to point out that women are meat....just occurred to me and I thought you'd like to consider it given your interest in the contest and all ;-)
I guess this means that only your stomach and parts south are vegetarian, hm?
