No comment on the QotD but that essay is fantastic. "generously large gold earlobe guards", bwaaahahaha!
While watching the movie "Heavy Metal", seeing Tarna's (near lack of) armor at the end, I came up with "+5 magic armor" to explain it...
I figure the doily armors are for women who are so badass they don't really need armor.
Besides, it distracts your opponent. I have a chainmail bikini top. I know these things.
