"This country's relationship with the Constitution is a little like partners dancing the Korobushka. Sometimes, you are holding onto each other, going the same way, sometimes you are whirling away from each other.

"But you need the partner to do the dance. And you always come back together."

Okay, except for waltzes, polkas (trad variety. Scandy does apart/together), sort of for hambos, schottisches, and the odd line dance from Bulgaria, dances are about apart and together. The timing and co-operation thing. Now I need to know what a Korobuska feels like. Damn.

Near as I can tell, the U.S.'s relationship with its Constitution is more the latter right now. I don't like the drama of dance in government's underpinnings, and I don't like our current line of direction. (snarl)

Yeah, Koroboushka is a lot of apart-and-together, with couples going in a big circle, and towards the center and out. Unfortunately the woman does a lot of spinning in circles. The song gets faster as you go. Sometimes I don't make it through the whole song, but it's a lot of fun!

It sounds fun. I haven't looked it up yet. Thank you.

At least when they do it at Pennsic, the men spin just as much.

And a number of Cold War spy movies use it as chase music -- ever see Company Business with Baryshnikov?
