I have never liked beer, never could stand the smell of it. I used to think that it was because I grew up with an alcoholic father and he always reeked of beer and it was rather disgusting. (FWIW he hasn't had a drink since his accident in october... Yay!)
But recently we discovered something rather interesting. It seems I have an allergic reaction to hops. We went into a place that sells brewer's supplies to buy standard wine bottles for our homemade liqueurs. They were working on a homebrew and the place reeked. I didn't know at the time what it was, but almost immediately developed a woozy head, nausea, and difficulty breathing. I stepped outside and felt better in about 10 minutes. I found out later that the strong smell I encountered was hops. This happens almost every time I go to one of the supply shops and they are working on a homebrew. I can't stay in there for more than a few seconds without having a hard time breathing and getting woozy. So I wonder if my dislike of the smell (and taste) of beer is actually my body saying, no don't touch it, your allergic, it'll make you sick.
Now I don't have problems with other people drinking it around me as long as it's not too close, and G knows that if he has a beer, that he can't breathe on me or kiss me for several hours after. He still drinks the occasional beer, No big deal, we just sleep back to back that night! :)

Oh, and Happy (or hoppy?) Birthday!
