One sign I had a bad day yesterday: I lost my phone again.
A sign that I haven't fully recovered: I keep forgetting what I'd just gotten up to do when I get up to look for it, and when I remember that, I forget where I've already looked.

Time to send myself an SMS message to make it beep.

USPS rang my doorbell very, very gently, with a box from Israel. A lens on long-term loan. I expected pretty, but this ... the only way I can tell it's ever been out of its original box is that it didn't arrive in its original box (and it already has a UV filter screwed on). It's too slow to become my favourite lens (I shoot too much in the dark -- "available gloom" photography, as one friend called it) but it's going to be extremely useful. Since most of my equipment was stolen in November, there's been a gap in my range of available focal lengths. This zoom covers that gap.

I still need filters and decent flashes. More than that, I need a gig. I'm going to be a few hundred dollars short on my electric bill, and the cut-off date will be while my mother is still in Cyprus. Anybody desperate for portraits or petraits this week?

I ran across your journal while reading The Ferret, and I believe I may have met you a long time ago. I used to attend sci-fi conventions in the Greater DC area, and still remember the time that someone who looked a lot like your icon taught me how to play House of the Rising Sun. (I'm much more socially ept in musical settings)

There's a very good chance it was me. There's another fellow in DC-area fandom who is sometimes mistaken for me, but AFAIK people only ever confuse us when we're at Pennsic. I have taught "House of the Rising Sun" to people on guitar ... if the person who looked like me and taught you that song was wearing a skirt, it was me.

I'm also known as The Human Vibrator, if that's an additional clue.

Do you still find time to play?

I'm interested (I asked about portraits awhile ago), but the way my schedule is this week ... do you do house calls?

Is a petrait a portrait of one's pet?

Yes, I make house calls. (Especially if you have a particular room or a spot in your yard that'll make a perfect setting -- or we could hit a nearby park.)

And yes, a petrait is a portrait of a pet. :-)

I have a cherry tree budding just beyond my deck, that might work nicely!
Or, the nearby park (with scenic gardens) would work if the angle for my tree won't work.

I'll email with more details.
