Yes. When I was trying to figure out her name (I had several in mind but I wanted to figure out what she wanted to be called), anniemal left me a note one morning suggesting "Perrine" and telling me about that book, saying that the cat reminded her of the protagonist.
Sure enough, the cat reacted more to that name than any of my ideas, so I made it official.
I'm not sure whether that's the reason I frequently speak to her in French.
