Yup, dark grey day, and the fluffy white and grey monster just climbed off my lap onto the window perch next to my desk. It's a day for floppy purring happy lap kitties...
I need to do something about a cat perch near the computer. Perrine wants to be nearby often, but only occasionally has the patience, is in the right mood, whatever, to actually sit or sleep on my lap.
Keisha used to sleep in her bed *on the table* next to the desktop computer before she got too fat to jump up on the table. Now she's a closet cat, she hides in the closet all day sleeping, coming out in the late afternoon when she is hungry.
Lily now sleeps on the scanner on the table next to the computer, or on the piano bench next to the piano next to the computer, unless she is in a follow donna around dragging her mouse on a stick toy mood.
My laptop is on my desk in the other room, she will sometimes sleep on the desk, next to it, or the cat perch in the window right next to my desk. I think the cat perch is one of her favorite spots, it gets afternoon sun, it's in the window so she can see the birds and squirrels, and it is right next to my desk where I spend a lot of my time working during the day.
Just putting a towel or something she can sleep on, on a table next to your desk or on your desk and putting her on it a couple of times while petting her, and she might decide it's a comfortable place to be.
That's a good idea. My ex-bf's cat used to follow me around the house (lagging behind so he still looked cool like he wasn't actually following me.) Just being in the same room was company enough; he would usually sit in the windowsill of whatever room I was in. Sometimes I miss having a cat but I couldn't handle the way he woke me up every couple of hours.
