I've spent the past few hours posting information in various places, forwarding email (I'm still behind on answering email), replying to comments ... and suddenly realized that I've been so focussed on the online contacts that I forgot to ask mutual friends whether they'd heard the news when I saw them face to face on Sunday. If reading my last entry is how they find out, they're probably going to be upset about that in addition to being upset about the news itself. :-(
