I take a number of meds and they all supposedly have a sedating effect. Even with that, I also need to take abilify (prescription) and melatonin to sleep. Without the melatonin I don't usually get to sleep. I take 3mg tablets and usually one or two do the trick. Sorry that it hasn't worked for you. Have you tried tryptophan? (In the form of milk or turkey)? I also know for me that what the shrinks refer to as "good sleep hygiene" (i.e. getting to bed at approximately the same time each night, getting up at the same time in the a.m., and not taking more than a 1 hour nap during the day) helps me to sleep regularly. Good luck with it. It sucks to have insomnia. It's so draining.
