I guess there are other things in DC, too. The cherry trees are pretty when in bloom. And there's supposed to be a bar or two with a decent range of beers.

I think I was in high school before I realized that the Smithsonian was special. I'd known all along that it was nifty, but I just assumed everyone had something similar where they lived. (After all, they had to, right? A necessity for people with school-age children, after all...)
I'm still not used to the idea of a museum you have to pay to get into.
