my birthday is Dec. 20th. I'm Jewish, so it's not so bad--intersecting with Channukah isn't a major thing. But for the 6 years I was in college, it meant that I had finals every birthday, which really sucked. My girlfriend's brother is born dec. 16th and they do the whole Christmas thing, so they have a house rule: The tree doesn't go up until after the 16th. It works out well.
Dang. Winter birthdays suck. So move it. Really. No finals in June. And your girfriend's brother gets to share his with Ludwig von Beethoven, Margaret Mead Jane Austen, and Arthur C. Clarke. Definitely wait a day for specialness. Then he'll only have to share with Arthur Fiedler and the anniversary of flight. Two lesser weevils.
I was born on 13 February, and if one more person gives me cinnamon hearts, chocolates, or a big bouquet of red roses for my birthday, I do believe I shall have to find an automatic weapon and a high place. It's not nice to have a birthday so close to HersheyHallmarkDeBeers Day.
On the other hand, I like having my birthday on the 13th, simply because so many people are triskadecaphobic, and also because every so often, it falls on a Friday. :D So that's partially why I don't celebrate it in summer or whatever.
Hallowe'en stuff is out in the stores. Only 4/3's of a month early. Bought S_C a couple of orange things. I loathe the colour, but he's got a guy kind of fascination with it. So it's a good time for shopping for him. The more fluorescent, the merrier. We may actually get around to pumpkins this year, but I doubt it. Politics are the spooky thing this year.
But happy Birthday early. In case I forget it as thoroughly as I forgot S_C's. We're not good at holidays. We just string he Christmas lights and let them live there.
Our anniversary is the 15th of October because there was a Hunter's Moon that day that year.
Have a spooky birthday. I always found 2/13 spooky enough, too. Who knows what's going to happen on the morrow?
