Bad migraine yesterday. Stomach feels funny this morning; not sure whether from insufficient sleep (expected to wake 2.5 hours hence) or from yesterday's drugs against the migraine. Probably not making it to University of Atlantia today based on how I've felt the last two days (I'll give myself a couple hours to change my mind) but I might still try to make it to Bowie to visit my mother and brother later.
Still want to get around to get around to writing up last weekend. Maybe later today.
Woke this morning from
a dream involving an old prophecy, the television show CSI
(though one character from CSI:Miami was also present),
and text-messaging. I don't remember the details of the case, but
an important clue was email about a prophecy regarding the end of
the world, which failed to come true. The SMS messaging came in
because either I dreamt that I emailed
anniemal about
the dream (or maybe the case itself within the dream, because the
story of the group who believed the prophecy was really interesting
and I wish I could remember it now) from my phone and she replied
with my original message and "From" header intact which resulted in what
she wrote being cut off[*]; or that Grissom was teasing
Greg about having done the exact same thing. (By the time I was
fully awake, I wasn't sure which version I'd dreamt.)
I do remember that in the dream Greg interpreted the failed prophecy as motive for murder and Grissom had to point out that the prophecy predicted that the world would end in October of 1500, not 2004, so it's not coming true wasn't a surprise to the person who had sent the email (and that the aftermath of the group who believed the prophecy discovering it didn't come true resulted in the founding of a particular philosophy of nonviolence somehow). Unfortunately the way I woke up (a series of brief "almosts" followed by a spell of "barely awake enough not not call it barely asleep" before I became coherent enough to organize the memory) resulted in my losing a lot of the probably-more-interesting details of the dream/episode.
[*] This happens when someone replies to an SMS message from
a desktop and bottom-posts, which is (IMNSH(and ranty)O) the only
correct way to handle normal email, not realizing
they're replying to an SMS device (my phone) which has a limit of
160 bytes per message. So everything they write winds up being
after the 160th character. Whoops. Easy mistake.
anniemal is not the only one to do this, just the one
who happened to do it in this morning's dream. Then again, in
my dream the message showed up on my PDA, not my phone, and thus
the SMS length limit shouldn't have been an issue, but hey,
dream-logic. Come to think of it, the original message she was
replying to in the dream was way too long to fit in an SMS
message itself.
Okay, now to feed Perrine and see whether I'm starting my day or falling over for a couple more hours.
