As I was falling asleep: What if there were a law that said if a candidate were caught in a lie about his or her opponent in a campaign ad, he or she had to pay for the cost of running the rebuttal ad as many times and in the same places as the lie had run? (Not so much a serious proposal as a "wouldn't it be nice if we could enforce honesty?" pipe-dream.)

As I slept: I dreamt about making music on a ship and in a mansion. silmaril was there.

As I woke up: I faded into consciousness just in time to hear coverage of a Russian woman breaking the previous record for the Baltimore Marathon by eight minutes.
