FWIW, I've heard the argument put forth that Kerry needs the biggest popular vote margin possible, because the right wing media and "think tanks" are already gearing up to declare his election illegitimate if it's close or if he wins the electoral race and loses the popular vote (not that I think that's going to happen, and despite the fact that in light of the last election, it would be completely hypocritical.) If that's the case, then one could argue that it negates the usual rationale about voting in "safe" states.

I'm not sure whether I buy it or not, but I do know that a big part of the basis for the right-wing hatred of Clinton was that he "wasn't legitimate" because he got less than 50% of the vote in the '92 election, so it's food for thought.

Listen, listen to ++! I believe that the more states Kerry can take and the higher #s in popular vote he has, the better chance we have that he'll get in. Because the Reeps are ready to challenge and sue and go to their Supreme Court to have King G. re-appointed, and that would be disaster, IMHO. I do not see how we can AFFORD another 4 yrs of that hypocritical liar. My TV screen is covered with lipstick prints after I watched Ron Reagan last night on MSNBC (they only let him talk for a moment) saying, "George Bush lied!! He is lying when he twists what Kerry says!!" (or something to that effect. Ghodz, I love that wacky Reagan. He speaks the truths that I am sitting there thinking.)
So please . . . please . . . think hard about this. I realize that your ideals are important, but this year . . . I had to be practical. I had to say, "Even if I see a few flaws in this guy, he way beats the fearsome alternative who would like to monitor my LiveJournal and throw me in the pokey if I ever say he made a mistake!!" Woosh. Whatta universe we got here, eh?
