I've mostly seen smaller ocarinas, which looked like rocks, and one that was made out of a hand grenade. (A dummy, practice grenade.)
I have seen ocarinas created in all SORTS of shapes. In the back of my closet (placed there for safekeeping while the kids were tiny, and still a good idea, come to think of it :-) I have one shaped like a dragon. I've seen them shaped like cats, carrots, and all sort of things. I have no idea how well they PLAY -- I'm a string and percussion kind of guy, not windy at all (*ducks and covers*) -- but will find out, one day.
