ROFL on the CE/BCE nonsense. You are just too nice. I'm in a 'make idiots go away' mode. Just think of it as Jeffrey-itis.

Speaking of said idiot, H wants a guitar for her b-day, so she finally got one. She hasn't had a lesson. Her b-day is in June. I consider myself entirely musically inept. Guitar was never even one of my failed-at instruments (still like percussion, though.) I would by her lessons from a human but she can't drive (age 13 and all) and I have the expectation that no one would take her to the lessons. So what would you recommend? I was hoping possibly some computer program or online site so that she can see hands in motion and positions rather than trying to do it from a book. I know her, she won't do well that way.

Ideas?

Urk. I know that videos and computer programs for teaching guitar exist, but I haven't looked at any (and haven't even seen a review since way back wen I could afford subscriptions to guitar magazines), so I have no clue what to recommend.

Maybe folks in rec.music.makers.guitar (news:rec.music.makers.guitar), rec.music.makers.guitar.acoustic (news:rec.music.makers.guitar.acoustic), and alt.guitar (news:alt.guitar) would have suggestions?

If you lived near enough for me to make house calls I'd offer my own services as in instructor, but ...
