I'm betting that "because my car was completely boxed in by fire engines and police cars" is a valid excuse for not moving it across the street before street cleaning hours start, right?

(Was woken by sirens, many sirens, pulling up nearby, and that particular combinations of smells that means a Baltimore row-house is burning. 50 Fulton Ave. is burning, and the wind is blowing my direction. So if my clothes smell like a house fire the next time you see me, it's because my house is drafty even with all the windows closed.)

I think (hope) that house was vacant, though #48 next door is occupied. I haven't seen an ambulance yet, so here's hoping.

Clarification: the ground floor windows were boarded up but not the front door nor the 2nd and 3rd floor windows, which is why I wasn't sure whether it was occupied or not. I don't think it was, but I'm not sure how long ago I last saw someone in an upstairs window, and whether that was before or after the ground floor windows were covered.

Anyhow, lack of ambulance (unless it came and went while I was posting here) is a good sign.
