I'm mostly in heterosocial contexts, and I haven't internalized the ground rules of the other. I can cope with them when necessary--I've seen it enough, in relatives and fiction--and they're at least not trying to pair me off, which I'd deal with badly, because I already am.

For me, it would be odd to select friends on the basis of gender, when I don't use that as a filter for partners.
