I'm watching the most recent episode of Crossing Jordan. A bunch of sirens -- police cars, I guess, since it was a group -- went by and I missed a couple lines of dialogue. So I rewound the tape to catch that scene again, and just as it got back to those lines again, another siren went past. So I rewound again, and -- you guessed it -- another two emergency vehicles came along to drown out those lines. I figured it couldn't happen a fourth time, so instead of jacking up the volume to "share with the neighbours" levels, I merely rewound again. Sure enough, one more siren. On my fifth try, I finally heard the lines and found out that those two lines weren't important enough to warrant that much effort after all.

I've said before that there's no point in my trying to be "normal" (whatever the heck that is anyhow), because life is going to throw strangeness at me no matter what. Today the universe threw something like an episode of Mr. Bean at me for a few minutes.

The emegency vehicles of all types have been blasting through my area of the city on and off all day also. Each time it sounds like somebody's dying because they've got the sirens going on full speed and they're flying through like maniacs. There was some fun with several helicopters and police a few blocks over earlier too. We don't usually get more than one helicopter at a time over this way even though their presence is normal. But it does seem to be a busy day for police and rescue.

For a moment. I thought you were going to say that you discovered that there was a siren on the tape :)

But I think that would be more of an SNL moment.

Of course reality is absurd. Always has been, hasn't it? And some of us attract more absurdity than others. I'm not sure what that says about either one of us.

Whomever said, "The Universe is not only weirder than you imagine, it's weirder than you Can imagine!" got it as close to right as I've yet heard.

*grin* I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one.
