Coffee really does it for me. Not if I am completely over-used-up or sick or have really abused myself not sleeping. It is indeed very handy to give my alertness/energy level a nudge. Pseudophed makes me feel really BAD physically and mentally. I will not take it - if I have cold/allergy symptoms bad enough to need meds I take generic benadryl and stay home, because I know the benadryl will have me way too sleepy to function. Sugar makes me drowsy. Staying hydrated is real important to how well I function - I can sometimes cure a case of the dopey/sleepies with ice water.
