The combination of inertia and poverty has kept me from going to concerts for a while, other than seeing my brother play about a year ago, and catching other bands at multi-band festivals where I'm playing. But I'm going to be able to go see Shonen Knife at the Black Cat in DC on Monday! And I was wondering who else I knew might be there as well. (Or who might be interested but hadn't known about it until now -- last I checked, tickets were still available.)

And a related question: is smoking still allowed in clubs in DC? If so, I'll make sure I'm not wearing anything marked "dry-clean only", so that I can get rid of the smell quickly and easily afterwards. (I've made that mistake before ... *sigh*)

A huge delegation of Japanese Government officials is coming to town next week - maybe I could let them know. :) Although I think Shonen Knife is more popular in the U.S. than in Japan.

And I don't wear 'Dry Clean Only' clothes. We both know I live in pajamas. It's efficient. Shirt, pants, who am I trying to impress here? I have the right earrings when needed.

I haven't been to the Black Cat, but smoking is certainly allowed at the 9:30.

Sounds cool. I've been trying to arrange a ride to the Christine Lavin concert in Westminster on Friday night. Doesn't look like that is happening.

Where is it? Decker Center or the Arts Center?

Oooh, that's a cool building but leave early, the parking is kind of dicey.

If you come out for it, there's a drum circle down the street at the Pour House that night. (It starts about 10:30.) The one I went to two months ago had the most diverse group of people I've seen in one place in this county.

If I didn't feel like homemade shit, I'd be tempted to go to the concert and then drumming.

(I'd offer to pick you up but I'd be coming from the west of Westminster. Sorry.)

Carroll County. It's very near where [livejournal.com profile] chesuli's Garlic party is going to be on Saturday.
