I turn off the water,
Pull back the shower curtain;
What, no cat?
How unusual.
Towel off and brush my teeth;
Brushing my hair, she trots in,
With something
Squirming in her teeth.
Smugly, she drops the mouse
To pursue it to and fro
Underneath
The claw-foot bathtub.
I don't have time for this
(I'm going to be late leaving).
Will this one
Manage to escape?
I try to catch it first
To throw it into the tub
But I fail
And I must go now.
I leave her to her prey
In a room with nooks and crannies.
Where will I
Find the tiny corpse?

resist replying in verse
