Electrical tape is not really opaque at all. If I want opaque, I use foil tape. Some brands have a slight tendency of pinholes, though, so two layers is indicated.

My plan for next time was to tape a bit of aluminum foil in that spot. And to remind myself that I have to turn the knob farther at the beginning than at the end, but that's something I should've thought of from the beginning.
