"Desert and mountain places located on the margins of society are locations of choice in luring God's people to a deeper understanding of who they are." -- Belden C. Lane, The Solace of Fierce Landscapes, 1998

Abraham went into the desert,
Zoraster went into the desert,
No desert in India - Buddha went to the woods for thinking.
Jesus went into the desert,
Mohammad went into the desert,
Aristotle, Father of Reason - to the symposium he went a-drinking.
When I seek the moral compass
To discover where to stand,
I prefer the voice of 'Moderation'
And 'check the facts' over desert sands.
