Around our house, when confronted with knowledge one of us feels like we ought to know, we're rather fond of a response from Daniel Pinkwater's The Muffin Fiend. Detective Wolfgang Mozart is asked by his policeman sidekick "Surely you know of..." and responds "I used to know, but I forgot. Tell me again." :-)
