Yeah, but are you going to try singing "Streets of Laredo" to the tune of the "Saint James Infirmary Blues"? I tried it, and while it required some metrical hopscotch (the one's in 6/8 and the other's in 2/2, as near as I can figure), it basically works.
I don't actually know the tune of "The Yellow Rose of Texas," so it's hard for me to do that, but there are hundreds of other songs for which that'd probably work, like, say, "Amazing Grace."
I just thought, mere picoseconds after pushing the Post Comment button that I likely won't even be at Pennsic this year so we can try this stuff out. *mutter*
