Popped into my head as I bounced twixt sleep and wake -- how "The Twelve Days Of Summer" might start:

'Tis the season to be shedding
Lots of little clumps of black cat fur...

Oh yes. Have you seen "Spirited Away"? You know the soot balls? We have those, but they're made of cat hair, and they don't do anything useful. If we could animate them, we could - well, I would say we could get them to clean the house, but all they'd have to do is leave.

So you're going to be writing the rest of this, yes? ;)

lol, those little critters are so cute!!!

one *could* potentially knit the hairballs into something useful. a sweater to keep you warm in winter? :-)

I've found a website that explains how to gather, spin, and knit cat fur into useable items. I'm seriously considering this, especially with the Maine Coon boy we have now; his fur is so thick and soft, and when I brush him I always come up with a couple combfulls of loose hair. And he'd make such a nice soft scarf... ;)

I heard (from a spinner I asked) that cat fur is exceptionally difficult to spin. I'm not surprised that someone does it, but I was warned that it wasn't something I should try as my introduction to the art of spinning.

But I'll be happy to donate grey fur to anyone skilled enough to spin it who wants to try.

Given how soft some cats are, I can only imagine how soft things knitted from cat fur might be.

Dearlove, that doesn't scan to "the Twelve Days of Christmas". It scans to "Deck the Halls" and there is nothing funny about clumps of cat hair the morning after one has spent the evening before bloody vacuuming.

*hug* Didn't say it was funny, just that it was in my head.

And you're right, it's "Deck The Halls"; I must've been listening to you counting the clumps you found, when you'd gotten up to twelve. Whoops.

It's _always_ that season... there's nothing summer-specific about it...
