Argh. Woke a bit before nine and discovered that the power had gone out sometime during the night. Two servers so far have spewed truly frightening messages during fsck; not sure yet whether I've actually lost anything. My network is now about two-thirds up (enough to let me telnet out, anyhow).

I should have known that spending the last bit of last night before I crashed preparing to do a backup would invoke Murphy. *pout*

(And no, I don't have an UPS. I had one -- too small to protect more than a single machine -- but it died a while ago. Funny thing, UPSes don't show up as hand-me-downs. (Okay, perfectly predictable thing, really.) Eventually I'll find a way to improve that situation. Fortunately my power doesn't go out often ... but when it does, bringing everything back up is a pain.)

Gee, I already had a full slate for this morning, and recovering from a power outage wasn't on the list. :-( Of course, some of the info I needed in order to do the stuff I'd planned to do is sitting on the file server, so getting the LAN working again still had to come first. Argh.
