"The reward of desire is the gift of life. Desire is life. The more intensely we yearn, the more intensely we live. When we lose our desire, we lose our lives as well." -- "Helen" in "The Best Sauce", by Francis W. Porretto (2005-02-23)

See also Charles Williams' _Shadows of Ecstacy_ for a similar theory of longevity--iirc, that one doesn't mention sex, though.

When we lose our desire, we lose our lives as well.

Thank you for reading my story. I'm particularly pleased that you picked that statement to quote; I think it contains an important truth.

All my best,
Fran Porretto

I think you've got it backward: we're supposed to thank you for writing it. And I do thank you. Erotica that stirs my brain as much as it does my 'nads is always something I'm glad to find. Erotica I can direct others to for the literature, the poetry, the philosophy, or all three, as well as for the erotic power, is always a good thing. I got off, and I got cool philosophical insights, and I got a great quote-of-the-day out of it. I think I owe you a beer.

And yes, I agree that the statement I quoted contains an important truth that reaches beyond the context of the story. That's why I had to quote it. :-)

So: thank you.
