I would like to ditto what merde said. Do JUST that. Send them a check for $0.00, and the "zero dollars and no cents" pun was on my mind too. Make sure you also send them a copy of the bill with the amount highlighted.
It will either get a laugh or fix it or both. There may in fact be a micro-$ amount of debt that is causing the glitch, and an investigation by someone within the system that such an action would cause could in fact finally mean that someone tells the computer that >.999999 cents is NOT a delinquent account.

But since that won't go to the correspondence address, I'd even go a littler farther.
Send them a letter telling them that since they acknowledge you owe them nothing, you are asking them to cease and desist on all collection attempts.
At least a fellow geek will might OT out of the deal.
