Parts of my house smell like ... hot solder. Particularly the blue bedroom and the entryway. This is, at least when I am not engaged in the act of soldering, not a very encouraging smell. I can't figure out where it's coming from, and worry about what piece of electrical or electronic equipment is about to die (and whether it'll catch fire).

Maybe, if I'm lucky, the curious smell will be related to the sirens I just heard going past, and therefore Somebody Else's Problem. Or connected to what the fellow with the very rude radio haits was doing when he was working on something for the house next door, out of his pickup truck, before the rain started.

(Oh merciful rain, that got him to shut off his car stereo and close up his truck.)

The first time I read this I saw Hot Soldier and I was wondering if you had extended your love life in a military fashion.

Ah, those lovely visual Elladanisms. I once saw "Laundry Salmon" instead of "Laundry Salon".

Weird. I read it the same way at first, and wondered what a hot soldier smelled like.

I am, right now, at the Apple Store dealing with exactly the same problem. Parts of my house smelled "electrical" and my Mac turned itself off with finality.
