[Note that the murderer's claim to have been surprised to discover Zapata's gender status was not credible in light of reports of events shortly before the murder. Not telling may be risky, but telling doesn't make you safe either. Zapata's killer already knew before the day he killed her, and ccooper's attempt to blame the victim is a red herring. I just hope that the reason the "trans panic" defense finally failed for a change was that more folks are starting to realize that decent people don't kill other people over such a discovery, not just because evidence that he already knew undermined his ability to use "trans panic" as an excuse.]
