That is my point: Israel not only has given back territory, they continue to be expected to give back more.

The original Adam Smith quote indicated no countries ever giving back conquered territories (Yes, I understand that Israel didn't exist when Smith lived.)

Ah. I thought you were making an anti-Israel statement. I didn't realize you were snarking, and that you share my opinion regarding the situation.

Never mind Israel, Canada. I am given to understand that England's occupation of British Palestine didn't exactly end voluntarily, but we were able to repatriate our Constitution absent a revolution or beheading of the monarch. (No, the Commonwealth doesn't count as "dominion.")
