Inaccurate!

"Nude" is when you're not wearing any clothes, and it's expected (shower, locker room, etc.)
"Naked" is when you're not wearing any clothes, and it's unexpected (walked in on, middle of your living room, walking down the street.)
"Nekkid" is when you're up to something. :)

The way I learned it a long time ago (not supported by etymology IIRC, alas) is that "nude" means unadorned and "naked" means unprotected. So by that definition, wearing a hat and a string of pearls but nothing else would constitute naked but not nude, and wearing an invisible force-field and a sidearm would amount to being nude but not naked (unless it was a rather decorative sidearm).

It seems there are several variations on this theme; I find most of them entertaining. I wonder whether that says more about nudity, about language, or about me ...
