Interesting that the PT Cruiser won't fit a double bass. I have a friend out here in CA who carries his 5 octave floor harp easily in the back of one along with his 2 large Irish Wolfhounds.
Interesting that a large harp does fit. Does it go in through a side door, or the back?
My bass, which I'm pretty sure is a 3/4, is roughly 16"x27"x74" (at its thickest, widest, and longest, though obviously it doesn't fill the entirety of a 16x27x74 box). I wonder which dimensions of the harp are enough smaller to get it into the PT Cruiser.
It did occur to me, as I was considering how this clue-collection ought to be designed as a database, that collecting similar information for harpists on the same site might be useful.
I'll double check with Tim, but I think he puts it in through the back door and rests it flat (as apposed to upright on the soundbox). I also have not seen him transport both the harp and the wolfhounds but I know he manages somehow because he takes all three (and camping equipment) to Ren Faires all over SoCal. And Tim is not a small man. He's almost as tall as Brent is.
I suspect that harps are a lot easier than basses. My (nearly) 5 octave harp is closer to 60" max dimension with the legs attached, and only 50" with them removed. That's potentially a full 2 feet of difference.
