I just got home (previous two entries were via SMS). Perrine greeted me with, "Oh, thank God you're home -- I'm starving! Come, follow me to the kitchen so you can feed me! Come, see, see how my food dish is ba... Uh, never mind. It must have been some other cat saying all that."

(When I left, I wasn't sure whether I'd be coming back tonight or sometime tomorrow, so I left enough food to last until late tomorrow.)

But she's still acting relieved to see me, even if the food bowl isn't empty. Poor thing.

Calvin does that, too. He'll try to lead me to the food bowl if I happen to be headed to that half of the house, even if the bowl isn't empty. If I happen to go into the bathroom where their food is, he'll go to.. and eat, even if he wasn't headed there in the first place.

He's.. rotund. :)

Well, there's also the fact that you are more than just Food Source, you are Preferred Furniture. Where else in the house is she going to find a self-warming bed/pillow that also plays good games? :)

She was lonely, she missed you!

[livejournal.com profile] julian_tiger did that when [livejournal.com profile] cattitude and I went away together for a few days, and took a while to be reassured that no, really, we weren't leaving him. (Based on things like his reactions when we came home in the evenings for a while thereafter.) He coped a bit better the second time.

I'm not sure if this means it's as well that we usually don't travel together (Cattitude is more the stay-at-home type), or whether it's something Julian would have had an easier time getting used to if we'd done it sooner.

She's so neglected. You can tell. :)

I get that from Callie, too. Sammy, however, is more interested in me than the food. If I go
out (for, say, 10 minutes), he'll greet me at the door, hop on the nearest chair, and start
rolling around as cutely as possible and puff up his tail because he MISSED me so MUCH
and he's so HAPPY I'm BACK, after ALL this TIME!
