eftychia at 11:58pm on 2007-12-20A little after 21:00, I started hearing sirens. Lots of sirens. And then more sirens. And seeing lots of flashes of red and blue light on the curtains. Eventually the fact that I'd heard even more emergency vehicles go by than for the largest fire I've seen around here, so I went upstairs to watch the last of the procession and try to figure out where they were headed. I saw a long line of police cars, every one with its siren and flashylights on, zooming up Lombard St. single file. At least one of the cars was a different colour than the city police cars.
I had planned to turn on the television news at 23:00 to see whether they said anything about it, but I lost track of time. Whoops. I wonder what was going on.

I hadn't thought to hit the television stations' web sites, but I don't see anything that matches on the WBAL site anyhow (I guess I'll peek at WJZ next). I'd think that anything that warranted a procession of police cars a mile+ long would've gotten more attention, whether it was some emergency or something ceremonial (and if it was ceremonial, the sirens would seem unusual).
