Because of where the bricks were, where the bucket was, and where the rope was, that would've meant a long backtrack carrying the bricks. Though in hindsight that probably would have been better.
For tools and supplies (including ballast in the form of containers filled with water), I've been putting them out the window onto the 2nd-floor roof then going to the end of the block and up on the roof and hauling them up to the top with a rope. I fastened three buckets to the rope a little more than the 3rd-floor-ceiling-height apart, so as to not have to walk half a block and climb three stories for each bucketful of stuff.
I need to check whether the extra piece of rope I found is long enough to reach the ground from the roof. If so, I can haul up two buckets of what look like trash/leftover-bricks (all broken) that are sitting in the yard of one of the vacant houses.
But the way my limbs and back feel today, even after taking my Ultram, today might not be the day to try to get back up there. :-( (And such lovely weather for it too. *sigh*)
*hugs* Did you try combining tylenol with the ultram? My sports guy says it helps. Sometimes it does.
I wish I lived down near you dear, I wouldn't be on the roof, but could at least HAND up stuff saving you some arm and hand energy. In exchange, of course, for re-teaching me how to play a few basic chords. ;-)
Tylenol doesn't affect me, so I usually take ibuprofen with the Ultram (except last week, when I was taking Naproxen). Usually 800mg ibuprofen, sometimes 1g. It does make a difference.
(Way back when I was getting Vicodin, I pointed out to my doctor that acetaminophen doesn't work for me and asked whether I could get just the hydrocodone and spare my liver/kidneys the trouble of processing the acetaminophen. She said that narcotics are nowhere near as useful in controlling pain by themselves as they are when combined with aspirin, an NSAID, or acetaminophen (pretty much ignoring my "Tylenol doesn't work on me" observation). So I started taking ibuprofen with the Vicodin, and whattayaknow, it started working a whole lot better. So then I asked my dotor if I could get Vicoprofen (hydrocodone+ibuprofen) instead of Vicodin (hydrocodone+acetaminophen) but it turned out my HMO (yes, HMO; this was that long ago) would not cover Vicoprofen and their pharmacies didn't carry it. Anyhow, when I started taking tramadol I guessed that it would behave similarly, so I tried it with and without ibuprofen, and sure enough, it too works better in combination with ibuprofen.)
When we get a chance, I'll help you with the guitar even without getting your help with my roof. *hugs*
Vicoprophen? I didn't even know it existed! Wow. Will have to ask pain doc for it. :-) Thanks.
Yayay! Guitar arriving Thurs. evenign, more then about it in the blog then or the weekend. :-) Washburn Rambler, natch...since it's my last name and all...and my cousin David eviscerated me for wanting a Martin instead. ;-D
