Well yeah, as far as I could tell from Wikipedia and a bunch of other sources, but apparently that little detail didn't matter to Malkin (and a bunch of anti-scarf commenters elswhere described the relevant pattern as "checkered"), so I figured if they weren't being picky about the pattern why should I?
