There are times when giving equal weight to both sides of a topic (in the guise of "fair and balanced") really gives undue weight to one "side". When one "side" is an intellectual scam, "fair and balanced" reporting should not overlook the scam. It should shine the cold light of reason on it, the better to make us point and laugh. Attempts to wedge non-science into science curricula provide much to point and laugh at, in this context.

Yes. Not all "sides" are created equal, and reporters do harm when they pretend otherwise.
