Then there's the false dichotomy; assuming that there's only two sides to an issue. This really annoys me when I see it in journalism; the reporter gets, say, the Democratic view and then the Republican view, then ships the story and pats themselves on the back for having covered "all" sides of the iseue...
The human tendency to create dichotomies for classifying things, whether n=2 is appropriate or not (and worse, to then try to inappropriately map every other dichotomy onto the one they're thinking of at the moment), has perplexed and frustrated me for decades.
