Thank you! I get some of them right in the camera; others I recompose by cropping (and some I would print showing more, but crop tighter to better fit in a web browser window, or to make the main subject a decent size without making people download a really huge picture).
The main trick, of course, is to not show anyone the ones that didn't work as well. (I've shot more than six thousand frames since I got the DSLR. I've gone from worrying about paying for developing, to worrying about how many hours of editing I'll need to do in GIMP later, when I start shooting.) I also try not to show a whole bunch of tiny variations of the same shot, but I couldn't decide which of the Perrine+bass photos I liked best -- I'm glad those went over well.
